On September 27, 2024, NAPF presented Talking About the Fire, a play by Chris Thorpe, at Old Mission Santa Barbara. The performance, which is an exploration of fundamental questions around nuclear disarmament, was followed by a Q&A session with Dr. Ivana Hughes (President of NAPF), Cynthia Lazaroff (NAPF Board member, NAPF Women Waging Peace Honoree for 2022, and US-Russia relations expert), Veronique Christory (Senior Arms Advisor to the ICRC and NAPF Women Waging Peace Honoree for 2024), and the play’s writer and performer Chris Thorpe. The panelists discussed the role that art can play in bringing this difficult issue to wider audiences, their hopes for the future of nuclear disarmament, and the significant achievements under the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this meaningful opportunity and to all who help make our work possible. We invite you to view the photos from the event below and to learn more about Talking About the Fire here.
