From October 28–29, 2025, States Parties from across the Asia–Pacific region, UN Institute for Disarmament Research, UN Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, and the Pacific Islands Forum gathered in Ha Noi for regional consultations in preparation for the 2026 NPT Review Conference. Hosted by the Foreign Ministry of Viet Nam and the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, with generous support from the European Union, the meeting provided a forum for delegations to exchange perspectives on nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

Christian Ciobanu, NAPF’s Director of Policy and Advocacy and TPNW Adviser to the Republic of Kiribati, delivered a presentation on the importance of addressing the legacy of nuclear weapons, nuclear justice, and the need for the States Parties to invite representatives from affected communities to participate in exchanges with the States Parties.
